Garmin & Felt announce new junior squad

Garmin SA today announced it's new junior line up - the newest addition to their cycling program which will be known as Garmin Felt.

This extends Garmin’s growing involvement in the sport and establishes a feeder into their other programs.

The powerhouse junior team consists of some of the top names in South African junior cycling and if the past two weeks are anything to go by it is going to be a very successful year for the squad. The first two events on the South African racing calendar were claimed by the Garmin Felt youngsters.

The team rides on Felt bicycles and is endorsed by Momentum Health.

The team will be based in South Africa and will be focussing on creating a platform for young riders to break into the professional side of the sport.

The team will also be racing on the European circuit. According to Garmin's Jason Theunissen: “We are still finalizing the final schedule but the following main races have been identified: 3 Daagse van Axel (Ned), Tour de Pays de Vaud (Sui), Tour de Lorraine (Fra) and the Vuelta Al Besaya (Spa)."

The team will also take part in the Belgium Classics Gent Menen, Ledegem Kemmel Ledege, Trofeo der Vlaamse Ardennen and the Circuit de Regione Wallone.

"We are also looking at extending the program into Italy with a focus on several of the Classics as well,” he said.
